Practice

Donning my artist hat for a minute and thinking about sharing things when maybe they're not so great.

Over a great span of years I've tried lots of different ways to be creative. Yes, my logical brain expresses creativity through code, well enough to make a career. I've made a lot of digital and algorithmic art as well that allows that logical creativity to blend with visual creativity, and I've not been terrible at that.

But now I'm exploring what for me is a new medium: watercolor. As you can see from the practice painting above, I'm not very good at it and that's perfectly fine. I knew going in that this was going to be challenging, that it would take time, and that most of what I make will look pretty juvenile and basic. That is part of the process, and I'm not going to get good unless I'm willing to practice through the bad parts on the way.

So I'm going to keep doodling with these watercolors, as time permits, because the journey is the reward, not the destination.
